Roseann Bennett is also the Co-Founder and Executive Director the Center for Assessment and Treatment. Roseann Bennett prides herself on her ability to effectively and efficiently help children, adolescents and families who suffer from an array of mental health problems.

Recently, Roseann Bennett has Developed a Canine Assisted Therapy Program at the Center for Assessment and Treatment, which serves as a compliment to other therapy services. It has long been understood that dogs have the ability to serve as service animals for people who suffer from various health issues or special needs; however, research is emerging that suggests that, together with other therapies, the same can be said for individuals who suffer from mental health issues, especially children. It should be noted that there is one major difference between service and therapy dogs. Service dogs go through specialized training to help a person who has special needs, while the focus of therapy dogs is to provide emotional support.

Canines can help children who suffer from mental illnesses in a number of ways. First, because of their calming abilities, dogs help the child feel safe. Second, unlike with humans, children do not feel judged by dogs, but instead they feel accepted, comfortable, and loved. This is critical when dealing with mental health issues and trying to get a child to open up. Go To This Page to learn more about Roseann Bennett.

There are a number of dog breeds that are considered to be the best therapy dogs, including, Labrador Retrievers, Beagles, Pomeranians, French Bulldogs, Saint Bernards, and German Sheperds. No matter the breed, it is critical that the dog is calm and isn’t easily excited because this would defeat their purpose. Additionally, therapy dogs have to have basic training and handle new people and situations with ease.

Roseann Bennett claims that Canine-Assisted Therapy can help with a number of mental health issues, but, individuals who suffer from anxiety and/or depression see drastic benefits from the use of canines. While it is clear that canines offer emotional benefits, they also offer physical benefits. For example, they have the ability to help lower a person’s blood pressure and improve a person’s cardiovascular health.
